~If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose~
Yoga has had a profound and positive effect on my life since that first class nearly 20 years ago!
It fosters a wonderful sense of community, it’s taught me to accept, love and look after my body, it’s given me the tools to slow down and chill out when life inevitably gets a bit overwhelming or stressful and it’s made me a happier and healthier person.
Passion, purpose, mission, obsession, calling - it’s now all of these things.
After teaching for a number of years in Paris & London, I moved back to NZ with my partner and founded and opened the first Flourish Yoga NZ studio in August 2019.
I love to draw on my years of experience with various styles to create a light-hearted class that incorporates breath work, mindful movement, strength work to balance out the flexibility work, and lots of personalised adjustments to help each person delve deeper in their practise.
Classes are varied, but all leave you refreshed and re-energised. I am qualified to teach Mat Pilates, so you can expect lots of core strengthening sequences woven through my yoga flows. I am also certified to teach Pre & Postnatal Yoga to look after all the beautiful yoga mamas and yoga mamas to be.
Selina Gilbert
Selina is a dedicated yogini who is passionate about bringing the nourishing practice of yoga into everyday life.
Selina’s first experience with yoga was from tagging along to class with her mum when she was 15 – she immediately fell in love with the graceful movements and quietening in her mind.
This love grew deeper when she observed the enriching effects of yoga on her life ‘off the mat’ – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. As a result, Selina completed a 2-year teaching apprenticeship, comprising 2,000 hours of intensive in-class training, culminating in registration as a Yoga Alliance 500 hours yoga teacher (RYT 500 hours) in 2009. With over 10 years of teaching experience, she has also gained accreditation as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500 hours).
She hopes that her students will leave her class a lighter, freer, more authentic version of themselves.

It is my deepest privilege to be in your practice, your presence, your Light.”
Together, may we breathe our way Home. Aho ~ MIchelle.

Alyssa Bird
Having witnessed and experienced the transformative power of Yoga, my purpose is to help others connect to their inner stillness and peace through this ancient and inspiring practice. I strongly believe in Yoga being available for every person, and truly feel that ‘if you can breathe, you can do Yoga’. My teaching style has a strong focus on safety, accessibility and working with the breath to journey inwards and create space in the body and mind.
I have been on the yoga path for over 14 years and teaching consistently for 5 years. I started out teaching in Sydney after completing the comprehensive IYTA 460 hour teacher training course, going on to further my training in Restorative, Yin, and Pre & Postnatal yoga. Having recently returned to NZ with my family, yoga continues to be an invaluable tool for keeping balanced and calm in a busy life juggling 3 young children.
Fiona Riley
Fi is on a mission to provide balance in a world of busy-ness. She is passionate about helping everyone access yoga and feel the benefits of having a regular practice. Trained in vinyasa, yin, restorative and menopause yoga, Fi creates inclusive classes to allow all bodies and all levels to join in. Fi has practised yoga for over twenty years and is still always learning on her journey. A 450 hour RYT qualified teacher, she offers a nurturing space for those who wish to practice, inviting playfulness and reflection in her sequences. Fi trained as a yoga teacher after she set herself a challenge of 300 days of yoga in one year. She managed 301 days but the real achievement was in building yoga as a lifestyle; feeling the benefits for body and mind by putting wellness front and centre in her life.
In 2020 Fi faced one of her biggest physical challenges when she was diagnosed with Primary Ovarian Insufficiency aged 38, which triggered her into the menopause. Yoga became a tool and a safe haven both for the physical and the emotional impact of her diagnosis.Yoga helped Fi to find a connection with her body and mind through the power of practice and be able to forgive her body through this process. Now she is keen to share how yoga can help others on their journey to acceptance and create space for those going through similar transitions. In 2022 she trained in menopause yoga to take her practice and her teaching to a deeper level and credits her practice with keeping her healthy and happy.
Abbey-Lee Mcmahon
Abbey-Lee has been guiding yoga for 8 years, starting out as a family & youth yoga instructor. Shortly afterwards she made the transition to teaching adult yoga, and has taught at many events, festivals, and various studios around Auckland. She is also an ambassador for Yoga Tribe.
Abbey-Lee believes that yoga is more than just a physical practise, instead it is a way of life - and if practised regularly, yoga becomes a pathway to inner and outer wellbeing.
She is passionate about offering a nurturing class environment and supporting people along their yoga journey. Her Yin classes are deeply relaxing, her flow classes surprisingly challenging! She brings a beautiful energy to her teachings, no matter the style.
A note from Abbey-Lee:
“I look forward to coming together with you on a mat at Flourish and sharing in your yoga journey.
Namaste”
Sarah Stockton
Sarah's yoga journey began with hot yoga over ten years ago. This quickly became a daily practice as she discovered the profound sense of calm and clarity that it provided - a sanctuary amidst the hustle bustle of city and work life.
In 2018, Sarah immersed herself in a 250-hour Yoga Alliance training with Nikki Ralston. This journey deepened her practice and ignited her teaching career. Continuously seeking growth and inspiration, Sarah has expanded her knowledge over the years through workshops with respected teachers - from advanced sequencing, modifying for injury to yin yoga and myofascial release.
For Sarah, yoga is more than just a physical practice, it's a holistic journey of self-discovery. She invites students to explore the harmonious union of breath and movement to nourish mind, body and soul.
When she's not on her mat or at her job in the arts, you'll find Sarah immersed in nature - camping, surfing, hiking or simply basking in the sun!
Kristy Meyer
Kristy came to yoga on a journey of self discovery and inner peace. She completed her teacher training in 2015 RYT200 and then fell in love with the slow, mindful practice of Yin. This lead to more in-depth Yin Yoga teacher training with Yin Culture.
“Yin Yoga is my passion and a medicine I love to share. I have experienced some deep shifts in my life through this beautiful practice. It brings me back to my centre, balances my energy and allows me to get out of my head and into the wisdom of my body and my heart space. It also allows me to be present and to move through this world with more grace and ease.”
With a passion for Yin Yoga that transcends the physical practice, Kristy strives to create a sacred and safe space where the nervous system is nourished, while mind, body and soul are united in harmony and balance.
To teach others how to slow down, to let go and to listen to the wisdom of the body and whisperings of the heart is truly a blessing. “To empower others with this deeply healing practice fills my heart”
Liv Lewis-Long
Liv has been practising yoga for over 15 years, having followed her passion for both meditation and movement around the world - from NZ, to Bali, to UK and back. Liv was inspired to pursue her 200 hr RYT training after seeing the benefits of yoga in her own life, from both a mental and physical perspective - it led her to want to learn and know more, and to help others realise these benefits.
She completed her RYT 200 training across hatha, vinyasa and yin under the mentorship of yoga veterans Kylie Rook and Sandey Hoskin, and loves to incorporate a mix of all three styles in her teaching where possible. Vinyasa krama - the art of intelligent sequencing - is incredibly important to Liv, leading her to create classes that start slowly, build on strength, flexibility and alignment and allow students to explore their limits.
Off the mat, Liv has a busy home and work life - she heads up marketing for a local kiwi business, and dotes on her two cats and husband. She also does weekly marketing contracting and volunteer work on the side, so there's never too much time to chill! Liv and her hubby's love for travel has taken them to many beautiful spots around the world, Sri Lanka being their favourite (and the destination of their wedding). Alongside daily yoga practice, Liv loves to get active - doing strength training, HIIT, pilates and more when she can. She believes that mindful movement is the key to great mental health.
